This page compares Zoho Invoice with PayToMe (beta) as of October 2026, based only on what Zoho states on its own pricing and features pages. Who each is best for

Zoho Invoice is a good fit if

  • You want a free tool with a wide feature list: quotes, recurring invoices, expenses, projects, timesheets and a customer portal.
  • You already use other Zoho products. Zoho lists integrations with Zoho CRM, Analytics, Books and others.
  • You bill in several languages. Zoho says invoices are available in 10+ languages.
  • You want your clients to log in, pay and comment on quotes.
  • You need desktop apps as well as phone apps.

PayToMe is a good fit if

  • You send mostly simple invoices and want the shortest path from finished work to sent invoice.
  • You like the idea of telling an assistant what the job was and reviewing a draft rather than filling in a form.
  • You prefer a focused tool to a suite with many modules you will not open.
  • You are comfortable adopting a beta product, starting on the Free plan at app.paytome.si.

If your business runs on projects, hours and a portal for clients, Zoho Invoice already covers that and PayToMe does not.

A Zoho Invoice alternative: where PayToMe is different

Speed, by design

A suite has a lot of screens. PayToMe is built around one fast path: describe the work, check the draft, send. A sentence like “invoice Acme for ten hours at ninety dollars, due in 30 days” becomes a draft with the client, line, tax and due date filled in. The total is $900.00 before tax. See AI invoicing for how that works. Via is live in beta.

An assistant that confirms

Via is the AI assistant inside PayToMe. It asks when a detail is unclear, never sends without your approval, and does not do the arithmetic. A tested invoice engine does, to the cent. The free generator already uses that engine.

Scope on purpose

Zoho Invoice lists time tracking, projects, expenses and a portal. PayToMe is deliberately narrower. Fewer features means fewer settings to learn, but also fewer things it can do for you.

Clear free limits

PayToMe’s Free plan caps usage per day, month and in total, so you know in advance when you would need to upgrade. Zoho’s free plan, per its page, caps invoices at 500 a year, users at 2 and projects at 3. If you send more than 500 invoices a year, compare those numbers against your own volume.

Free tools, no account needed

Try the free invoice generator for a PDF in your browser, or the sales tax calculator to check a total. To send invoices and get paid, sign in to the Free plan.

Pricing comparison

Prices below are as of October 2026. Zoho’s come from its US pricing page. PayToMe’s are its own plan prices in US dollars.

Item Zoho Invoice PayToMe (beta)
Entry price $0 $0
Invoice limit, entry plan Up to 500 per year 100/day, 500/month, 1,000 in total
Users, entry plan Up to 2 1
Paid price Not listed for Zoho Invoice Pro $12/month or $120/year, Business $39/month or $390/year
Branding on invoices “Powered by Zoho Invoice” on the free plan To be confirmed
Support Free email and voice support, 24/5, per Zoho Not yet announced

Zoho’s page also says accounts inactive for more than 180 days may have their data deleted, with notice beforehand. That is worth knowing if you invoice only a few times a year: keep copies of your PDFs.

That example shows why you should compare limits against your own volume. A total cap suits people who are testing or invoice rarely, while a yearly cap suits steady small-scale use. See the current plans on the PayToMe pricing page.

Switching notes

  1. Export from Zoho first. Download your customers, items and past invoices as files you control before you change anything.
  2. Decide what you will leave behind. If you use timesheets, projects or the client portal, plan where that work goes, since PayToMe does not offer them.
  3. Test with real invoices. Sign in to the Free plan, or use the free invoice generator, for two or three real jobs and compare the time it takes.
  4. Move new clients, not old ones. Keep open Zoho invoices where they are until paid, so clients are not confused.
  5. Move over gradually. Once new invoices go out from PayToMe, wind Zoho down as the old ones are paid.

What we could not verify

The Zoho pages we read did not state paid Zoho Invoice prices, did not say which features belong to the free plan, and did not mention AI features. We have not claimed anything beyond that. Zoho may offer different plans in your region or may have changed them since we checked, so read Zoho’s pages before deciding. Our comparison hub lists other tools.
