Paid, thanks!

An invoice app should let you bill the moment the work is done, from the place you did it, even when the signal is bad. PayToMe’s mobile app, which is in development, is designed around that idea: create an invoice on your phone, send it by email with a pay link, and see when you have been paid. This page explains what the app will do, how it differs from the website, and why offline use matters on a job site.
How the app will work
The goal is to make the shortest path from finished work to a sent invoice.
- Open the app and start. Type, speak or snap a photo of a quote or a receipt. With AI invoicing, Via drafts the invoice from what you give it.
- Review the draft. Every number is visible. Tap a line to change it.
- Send. The invoice goes out by email with a secure pay link. Sending by text, as described in text-to-pay invoices, is in development.
- Get notified. A push notification tells you when the invoice is opened and when it is paid.
Here is an invoice as it would look on a phone screen after a day’s work:
INV-0089 · Rivera Electric
| Item | Qty | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Replace panel breaker | 1 | $185.00 |
| Labor, on site | 3 | $285.00 |
| Outlet covers | 4 | $26.00 |
| Tax (7%) | $34.72 | |
| Total | $530.72 | |
Working offline on a job site
Basements, new builds, rural properties and parking garages often have weak or no signal. Most web-based invoicing stops working there. The plan for the PayToMe app is different.
- Create and save offline. You will be able to build an invoice, pick a client you already synced, and save it without a connection.
- Queue the send. If you tap send with no signal, the invoice waits in an outbox and goes out as soon as the phone reconnects.
- Sync safely. When you are back online, your drafts and sent invoices are merged with your account. If the same invoice was edited on two devices, the app will ask you which version to keep instead of overwriting one silently.
Some things cannot work offline. Taking a payment needs a connection, and so does looking up whether a client has paid. The app will show clearly what is waiting to sync.
What the app will do vs the website
Both will use the same account and the same data. They are good at different things.
| Task | Mobile app | Website |
|---|---|---|
| Create and send an invoice | Yes, planned | Yes |
| Voice input | Planned | Not planned |
| Photo to invoice with the camera | Planned | Upload a photo |
| Work offline | Planned | No |
| Push notifications for payments | Planned | Email alerts |
| Bulk edits and long lists | Possible | Best here |
| Reports and exports | Basic | Full |
| Settings, branding and team | Basic | Full |
Think of the app as the tool for the moment of work, and the website as the tool for the office. Because the data is shared, you do not choose one forever.
Why it matters
Delays between work and billing cost money. Studies and common sense agree on the direction: the later you send an invoice, the later you are paid. You cannot control how fast a client pays, but you can control when the request goes out.
- A cleaner finishes a deep clean at 2 pm and sends the invoice from the client’s driveway. The client pays from the couch that afternoon.
- A mobile mechanic repairs a car in a parking lot with poor signal. The invoice is saved offline and goes out when the signal returns.
- A freelance photographer wraps a shoot and sends the invoice from the train home, while the client is still delighted with the day.
None of these people sits down at a desk to do paperwork. The paperwork happens in the gaps.
Details that matter
Voice and camera
Voice input lets you describe a job with dirty hands. The camera turns a photo of a handwritten quote or a supplier receipt into an editable draft, covered in photo to invoice. Both are planned for the app.
Security
The app is planned to support device-level locks, such as a passcode or biometrics, so a lost phone does not expose your clients. Your data lives in your account, not only on the device.
Clients and rates
Your client list, usual rates and tax settings sync to the phone so Via can recognize “Acme” without you typing the full name.
Notifications
You choose which events send a push: invoice viewed, paid, or overdue. Quiet hours will be supported so a payment alert does not wake you at 2 am.
Start with the free tool
You do not need to wait. On your phone, sign in to the web app, or open the free invoice generator, add your client and lines, and download a PDF. It uses the same exact money math as PayToMe, so the totals match.
